Moms Magazine published some tips from us on keeping your kids safe at the playground. We encourage you to head over to their site and read the article in full, but if you’re pressed for time, here are some of the key insights:
Equipment, especially on older playgrounds, can be perilous for your kids. Climbing nets can have holes worn through them, surfaces can be littered with sharp or otherwise dangerous items and equipment can have gaps that cause pinches or worse to little hands and feet.
Age appropriate activities
It’s a good idea to keep your younger children apart from older kids who are likely more adventurous and boisterous in their playing. What can be safe for a ten year old is not necessarily safe for your toddler.
Keep in mind that child sex offenders often target busy areas full of children, with playgrounds an obvious target. Always accompany your children to public play areas and keep them supervised. Ensure that your children know to avoid interacting with adult strangers.
BeenVerified has a useful search tool for tracking where sex offenders live in your area.
We hope you and your kids have a fun and safe summer!
