This week, meet one of our key team members building BeenVerified’s B2B products:
What’s your name?
What’itle? and what does that really mean you do here?
Jr. Engineer: I am currently responsible for the development and management of our B2B web application and the API that supports our B2B products.
How long have you worked at BV?
What did you do before BV? How did you end up at BV?
I was a Director of Operations at a Legal Settlement Administration firm. I left that job because I did not enjoy the work/environment, and I couldn’t see myself there for the rest of my professional life. I decided to make a career change and become a software engineer; I went to code school, did some freelancing work and met an Engineering Director from BV after he starred one of my GitHub repositories – I basically stalked him.
What’s your day-to-day like?
I am usually moving several initiatives forward on a daily basis. Specifically, that involves building, reviewing and shipping code in our front and backend apps that support a range of products offered to our B2B customers. It’, rewarding and always exciting. I also contribute to code reviews, general knowledge sharing, jumping in wherever necessary and monitoring the day-to-day health of our stack.
What’s your favorite thing about the BV office? Or culture?
I work with a group of individuals who are bright, fun, creative and hardworking. And when I say group, I mean every single person at BV. Everybody really cares about the work they do and the impact they make here. I think that is a very special thing.
Tell us something surprising about you that not many people know:
My middle name is Seymour.
What are your biggest outside interests and hobbies?
I have three kids and I play keyboards in a couple different bands. Basically, I have a lot of awesomeness in my life but I never sleep.
What is a book, movie, or song that inspires you?
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is a pretty sweet book.
What’ite BV lunch that we have on free lunch Wednesdays?
This is tough because it’s pretty much a home run every week. But I’d have to go with the make your own burrito bowl place.
