This week, meet the person responsible for building cool new features for the BeenVerified web apps:
What’s your name?
What’s your job title? and what does that really mean you do here?
Software Engineer. I develop features for our Client-side EmberJS applications that our subscribers use, as well as work on the backend Rails application.
How long have you worked at BV?
About a year.
What did you do before BV? How did you end up at BV?
In a previous life, I worked in Healthcare at a company called One Medical in operations. I really didn’t love what I was doing, and in late 2015 I quit my job to attend the Flatiron School and learn web development. After the course, I worked on Flatiron’s engineering team for a 6-month contract, and then was connected with BeenVerified through a mutual friend.
What’s your day-to- day like?
Building stuff! We’ve got some planning meetings here and there, but for the most part, I’m working on new features for the app. Most recently, I completed a project that involved re-architecting how we manage users’ subscription features to be more flexible, which will allow us to offer some cool stuff to our customers down the road.
What’s your favorite thing about the BV office? Or culture?
The people here are excellent – everyone is super motivated, they care about the quality of their work, and are just generally fun-loving people. Also, Rocket League in the office.
What are your biggest outside interests and hobbies?
I love traveling, exploring NYC, and seeing live music. I also spend a lot of time working on personal projects outside of work (currently working on a React Native app).
What’s your favorite BV lunch that we have on free lunch Wednesdays?
Probably a tie between Mighty Quinn’s BBQ and Korilla.
