What To Do If You Don't Like Your Parent's New Partner
It’s common – almost cliché – to hear stories about parents not liking their adult child’s partner. But just as often, adult children of divorced or widowed parents aren’t too keen on Mom or Dad’s new love interest, either.
It’s natural to feel uneasy or uncomfortable about your parent being in a new relationship. You may feel like it’s too soon after the divorce or death for your parent to be pursuing a new partner. It can also be hard to adjust to the idea that your mother or father is now a single adult back on the dating scene.
Does Your Spouse Have Secret Credit Card Debt?
Money is one of the biggest stressors for married couples, especially if one or both partners have bad spending habits and a lot of credit card debt.
While a certain degree of financial independence is good in a relationship, some individuals will actively hide purchases or debt from their spouse, either because they don’t want them to worry or they don’t want them to know what they’re spending that money on.
Hate His Family? Here’s What To Do
There’s a reason why meeting your significant other’s family members for the first time is such a huge deal for many couples: There’s always the possibility that you just won’t get along.
At first you might not realize there’s anything wrong, especially if you’re used to making a good first impression. But if your partner’s family starts asking aggressive questions, avoiding direct contact with you, or generally acting disinterested in you, it could be a sign that they’re not your biggest fan, according to relationship therapists.

5 Valentine's Day Date Ideas For New Couples
Valentine’s Day can be a confusing time for new couples. Make an over-the-top gesture and you risk scaring your date away. Fail to plan anything and you could risk this becoming a short-lived relationship.
Take a deep breath. The holiday of love doesn’t have to be as stressful as you think.
As relationship expert Susan Winter told Bustle, “Valentine’s Day is just one day out of a remaining 364 in which to demonstrate your affection. Don’t buy into the consumer marketing ploy. Meaningful relationships are built on small, consistent acts of kindness over the entirety of a relationship. Grand gestures pale in comparison to the littler acts of ongoing appreciation and thoughtfulness.”
Lessons From Beyoncé & Jay-Z's Marriage
In his latest and most personal album, rapper Jay-Z apologizes to his superstar wife, Beyoncé, seeming to acknowledge some of the cheating allegations and other relationship shortcomings that have surfaced in the press over the course of their marriage.
Additionally, in a video titled “Footnotes to 4:44,” Jay-Z elaborates on his marriage: “We built this big, beautiful mansion of a relationship that wasn’t totally built on 100 percent truth, and it started cracking,” he says; adding that being “shot at” isn’t even as hard. “Nothing’s harder than this. By far, I’m telling you, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” he acknowledged.
Financial Infidelity: The Most Common Type Of Cheating
Cheating isn’t always about sex.
According to a 2016 Harris poll, almost half of Americans (42%) say they’ve committed some form of financial infidelity.
Financial infidelity is when your spouse lies to you about how money is being spent, or hides secret accounts from you, or makes significant spending decisions without your knowledge. Financial infidelity is much more common than sexual cheating, and often times equally as damaging to a relationship.
